Great service Wednesday evening. Quiet also, which was nice. I would say they are consistently good. We had ordered calamari, grilled shrimp, chicken fried steak and pancakes for the granddaughter all were tasty.
Such a great place. Food is so good and I love the look of the place. Most definitely coming back
A real gem of a restaurant in Salem. Food is excellent, most of the dishes are home made from scratch. I had the salmon salad and it was as delicious as it was beautiful when placed on the table. My hubby had the meatloaf sandwich and couldn't stop raving about it in between bites. The restaurant is small, and other than 3 or 4 booths, seating is very close, so expect to enjoy your meal with your neighbor. The restaurant also is very popular, so expect to wait, but it's definitely well worth the wait.
A restaurant with a large diner-style menu updated with great surprises. It also has a shop to grab sandwiches, soups and pastries to go. A great point for me is being open 24/7 (in downtown Salem!). Full bar is available as well. I have tried a few different options and they were fairly good to good. My recent favorite is their fried green tomatoes (by the time I took the picture, half were already gone!) Service is always prompt and courteous but is a small place so you may have to wait depending on the time.
Great food, premium price, and 24 hours. This combination makes the Kitchen quite unique in Salem. The menu is unique and offer a vastly different taste than others in Salem. I tend to order the Eggs Benedict but have ventured into their other menu categories. This is my go-to-place for delicious food in Salem
It was just early enough to be slow. My food came out so fast. My waiter was awesome & the food was fabulous!!
They use a little spice to give their food a better taste and the deli they run on the side is a great place to grad a quick lunch
This is still my favorite place to eat In Salem. Their veggie eggs Benedict almost make me cry, and their blood orange mimosas are delectable. The wait staff here are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I love the kitchen! I really love this place.
The food is very good, the prices are moderate, the customer service is great and the atmosphere is friendly!
Clean and neat place, tasty food and moderate prices! High recommendations!
This is my first five star review. I had their southern Benedict at the recommendation of our waitress Savanna and it was amazing. It was really a unique taste and something I haven't had before. Obviously because I finished half of it before taking the picture. If you are in town I would highly recommend this. I'm pretty sure they do breakfast all day. The fried green tomatoes are also delicious although I'm not from the south so no connoisseur.
Great looking place, delicious food, fast service and decent prices.
This place is just what downtown Salem needs! Trendy, eclectic menu and vibe that makes downtown a destination. The calamari is excellent! Perfectly light crispy outside, oh-so delicately tender inside! Definitely coming back to try the ceviche....and the Reuben!
Cool vibe in downtown Salem. It's a diner with a bar! Southern food is the hallmark of the place. Nice breakfast menu too. The place is open 24 hours and the full menu is always available.
Great vegetarian and vegan options! This was a wonderful brunch spot, I loved the quick service and that the Benedicts are made with duck eggs!
The grits are amazing! Sweet attentive staff! Football on the tv. Love this place!
Great menu that changes sometimes daily, classy vinyl music in background😘🎶
Loved the food. Great vibe. 10/10 would go again.
My now favorite spot in Salem.Food is amazing and has top-notch service.Went in at 5am Sunday and returned at noon for more. 5am cook, besides preparing bomb french toast & pancake tacos, came out to ask how we liked the food. Does help that it's slow at that time. Didn't care for the hot chocolate though. Like that it is milk, but they use chocolate syrup and that's what it tastes like. At noon, Becky on the Kitchen Counter side was the absolute best. However, coffee wasn't to my liking.
Good place to go for a bite to eat down town! The place is small but the food is very tasty. The menu choices are less than some other restaurants downtown. The waitress was very good at giving recommendations when it comes to food restrictions we had.
This place has gone down hill significantly over the past months, Portion sizes were small and for the price there are better deals to be had downtown. Pretty dead atmosphere and I can see why, one of our party got sick after eating there as well. Would not recommend a once good restaurant.
Food and drink quality and variety are fantastic. Incredibly welcoming and attentive staff. A Salem gem, for sure.
The food is just like homemade. The staff is extremely nice. I love how you can choose to sit either inside or outside. My husband and I always sit outside. Great place! Highly recommended!!!
Reliably delicious and fresh food. Made to order. I ordered the Reuben, and others ordered the chicken tacos and a burger. Side salad had high quality veggies. Have been here 5 times and it is always good food and good service. Great ambiance too!
Very good food! Nice atmosphere. Little noisy when busy, but still comfortable.
Best corn beef hash! Noisy so if u have sensitive little ones that is the only downside. Staff amazing! Definitely some amazing spicy options.
If I had any constructive criticism to offer it would be the space. They ate crammed into such a narrow space I literally felt like the strangers to my right and left were family... and I'm an introvert so my personal space is very important to me so that does stand out as something that would impact my decision to go back there. Besides that, the food, service and price were all perfect. I couldn't criticize a single other thing.
Well, our friend found a hair in her food that was cooked into the potatoes. They didn't offer any kind of discount 😒 the hair is in picture with egg on top. Bottom of the left side of the plate.
That was one of the best soups I've ever had. And everything is homemade!
Staff was extremely friendly and the food was amazing!!! I went with 2 of my friends and ordered different entrees and everything was delicious! I knocked over a drink that I had just gotten and offered to pay for another she just laughed and said no worries! Love this place
Thanks for the great meal and excellent service. I was very impressed with my meal! If anyone is looking for good Benedict for breakfast, I'd recommend this place! Thank you so much for the meal, as a furloughed employee I really appreciate the warm warm meal before a job interview.
The pancake tacos are so unique! Tasting onion and pancake together throws off your taste buds, but in the best way.
The Kitchen on Court Street is the best 24hour restaurant in Salem. They serve their whole menu all day and night. They have a fairly diverse menu with their slightly bougie take on classic diner foods. They are a little pricey but they use fresh local ingredients. You are definitely getting what you pay for!
Awesome service and great tasting food! A+++ for a downtown spot in Salem
Nice place . could have better service. My Ruben was falling a part when i got it the bread was too soft kind of soggy for being made into a Reuben sandwich.
I have never had a bad experience there
at just shy of 50 years of age I felt a bit out of place with the 20 something crowd here but the atmosphere was nice the food was good and the kids that were hanging out here were friendly enough. Very quirky kind of place with good food and unique menu options. it was a nice date place for my wife and I.
Another foodie must!! Gotta say my favorite are the Pancake tacos!!! If you are like what?! Go try them! They have a pastry/coffee side if you must wait to be seated. Seating is usually 20mins but worth the wait!!
Stopped in Thanksgiving weekend for lunch as we had a great experience in Sept. 2016. We only reiterate our first review...these folks have it together and the crowd at 2 p.m. spoke volumes. A breakfast order and a Fried Green Tomato BLT hit the spot. The black bean chili side was fantastic although when they say spicy, they mean it. Our waiter, William, was as good as they come. He took time to answer our questions, was responsive and got our orders out when they were hot. Quality wait staff is hard to come by...this little spot has great staff. We always try to avoid the QSRs along the interstate and that is how we found this spot. Plus, of course, TAs always solid advice.
We went to The Kitchen on friends recommendation of a very good breakfast. We never got to try the food. We arrived at 7:15 am and there were two other people in the restaurant. We were offered a table right next to the two people who were there. We requested a booth and were told they were for 3 or more people? It was early, no line, no people, really bad PR. If packed we can understand. We left, just not good business, went to Court Street Dairy. A booth, no problem.
I had their signature breakfast sandwich 🍞🍳 Soooo freaking good!! Plus their fried green tomatoes are a perfect starter, I will definitely be back
Awesome food!!!! Went in after we closed up CoinJam. They had great staff that knew the menu and had great suggestions. Food was amazing and worth every penny. I will definitely go back and enjoy.
Tasty, filling, and well worth the wait! Even though the place was really busy, service was great. The sauce on the catfish Benedict was awesome! As was the sausage gravy on the chicken fried chicken! I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Salem!
Love that it's open late, but honestly the food and service were only okay. We were in late on a weeknight, and we're sat right next to the only other people dining in, a loud party near the window. They were good with the substitutions my friend needed, which was a perk, but honestly I likely won't return.
Craft and creative bistro in the heart of Salem. Great spot for dates, friends, and even small groups. With covid-19 the inside is closed but wonderful seating on the street.
Good place to grab breakfast in the evening. Vegan and gluten free options. The high point for us was that is has a bar, but as a restaurant allows minors late at night.
Love the remodel, the food is always amazing, and the initiatives in place to keep the place super clean!
Good God man. Chowder was amazing! Cuban was good, but the pancakes. I would trade one of my kids for a 3 stack!! First time there, definitely not the last.
